Cutaneous Afferent Nerve Activity
نویسنده
چکیده
I The activity produced by intra-arterial bradykinin and prostaglandin El was investigated in multifibre strands dissected from the saphenous nerves of anaesthetized rats. 2 Bradykinin (0.5-10 gg) alone produced little activity in nerve strands but produced considerable activity following a 10 min infusion, but not a single injection, of prostaglandin E1 (5-100 ng). 3 Prostaglandin E1 alone produced a few large height spikes but following several injections of bradykinin smaller height spikes were also produced by prostaglandin El. 4 It was concluded that the presence of a low concentration of prostaglandin E1 is required for bradykinin to manifest its action and that bradykinin and prostaglandin E1 are mutually potentiating in their effects on afferent nerve terminals.

Functional properties of cutaneous A- and C-fibers 1-15 months after a nerve lesion.
The functional properties of cutaneous afferent fibers were investigated 1-15 mo after nerve lesions, which allowed regeneration into denervated skin. After crushing or transection and resuturing the rat sural nerve, ongoing activity and responses to cold, heat, and mechanical stimuli presented to the denervated skin or to the nerve distal to the lesion were examined in 273 A-fibers and 211 C-f...
متن کاملCutaneous afferent activity in median and radial nerve fascicles: a microelectrode study.
Cutaneous afferent activity was recorded in fascicles of the median and radial nerves of normal subjects using percutaneous microelectrodes. Multi-unit fascicular responses were dominated by activity in large myelinated fibres. Easily tolerated electrical stimuli evoked the full spectrum of fast and slow myelinated fibre activity but more intense levels were required to activate unmyelinated fi...
متن کاملSelective reactions of cutaneous and muscle afferent neurons to peripheral nerve transection in rats.
To determine whether peripheral nerve injury has similar effects on all functional types of afferent neuron, we retrogradely labeled populations of neurons projecting to skin and to muscle with FluoroGold and lesioned various peripheral nerves in the rat. Labeled neurons were counted after different periods and related to immunohistochemically identified ectopic terminals and satellite cells in...

Background and Purpose: Basically, The muscle spindle is innervated by γ – fibers, γ – fibers are divided into phasic and tonic groups on the basis of their function. Ït is believed that phasic one γ innervate all the muscle spindle fibers where as tonic one innervate only tonic muscle spindle fibers and phasic of type two. The purpose of this study was to observe the fiber activity during ph...
متن کاملResponses of intact and injured sural nerve fibers to cooling and menthol.
Intact and injured cutaneous C-fibers in the rat sural nerve are cold sensitive, heat sensitive, and/or mechanosensitive. Cold-sensitive fibers are either low-threshold type 1 cold sensitive or high-threshold type 2 cold sensitive. The hypothesis was tested, in intact and injured afferent nerve fibers, that low-threshold cold-sensitive afferent nerve fibers are activated by the transient recept...
